Hyaluronic Acid: Information
Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronan or HA, is a structural component of connective tissue, skin and nerve tissue. Like chondroitin, hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan, and also like chondroitin, HA is found in articular cartilage. Hyaluronic acid is a major component of the synovial fluid that lubricates and cushions joints.
Hyaluronic Acid for Healthy Joints and Skin
Hyaluronic acid supplements are primarily used to promote the health and function of joints and skin. Many studies have evaluated the usefulness of hyaluronic acid for arthritic conditions.1 HA appears to benefit joints by improving the condition of synovial fluid, improving cartilage synthesis, and anti-inflammatory effects.2
Using Hyaluronic Acid Supplements
Use hyaluronic acid supplements as directed. Hyaluronic acid supplements can be combined with other joint supplements like glucosamine, chondroitin, celadrin and SAMe.
