What is Pyruvate?

Pyruvate supplements are used to increase energy by supporting the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). ATP is the body's primary fuel, powering most of our vital functions as well as work and exercise. Since ATP can't be supplemented directly, ATP precursors like pyruvate are used. Pyruvate supplements supply extra pyruvic acid which the body can use to make more ATP for energy.

Health Benefits of Pyruvate

Pyruvate supplements may increase the amount of ATP available to cells, with a positive impact on enhance exercise endurance and/or fat loss, especially when combined with other cellular energy factors like creatine and d-ribose. More research should reveal the specific doses, mechanisms and benefits associated with pyruvate.1

Pyruvate Dosage

The recommended supplemental dose of pyruvate is 5-6g per day. Pyruvate is available in capsule, tablet and powder form.

Pyruvate Side-effects and Cautions:

Gastrointestinal discomfort can occur at high doses. Pregnant/nursing women should not use pyruvate supplements. Consult your physician before using this supplement if you are taking any other drugs or medications.
