Saw Palmetto is been shown to help reduce symptoms of benign prostate enlargement by inhibiting the action of the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT. This conversion has been linked to benign prostate enlargement and multiple studies have demonstrated that saw palmetto works to improve symptoms as fast or faster as some prescription medications. Via the same method of 5-alpha-reductase inhibition, saw palmetto has also been shown to reduce hair loss and stimulate new hair growth. Both pygeum bark and stinging nettle root are included for their ability to increase the effects of saw palmetto on the prostate. In conjunction, all three have been shown to support a reduction in symptoms from benign prostate enlargement and also support urinary tract health. *
Pumpkin seed oil is high in delta-7-sterine, a natural compound that competes with enzymes responsible for the conversion of DHT. Pumpkin seed oil is also high in natural minerals like zinc, magnesium and manganese, important for general health. New research suggests that lycopene supplementation may protect against the development of prostate cancer and help treat symptoms of benign prostate enlargement. Although the exact mechanism by which lycopene positively affects the prostate is unknown, it’s beneficial effects have been well documented.
