Calcium Pyruvate

What Is Calcium Pyruvate?

Calcium pyruvate is a stable form of pyruvic acid, a substance cells need to create ATP for energy. Since pyruvic acid itself is too unstable to use in supplements, the calcium pyruvate form is used instead. That's why virtually all pyruvate supplements contain calcium pyruvate.

Calcium Pyruvate's Health Benefits

Calcium pyruvate supplements are used to support or increase the production of ATP, which powers work, exercise and most vital functions throughout the body. By increasing ATP, the body has more energy for work and exercise, both of which burn calories and fat. Pyruvate supplements add to the limited amount of pyruvic acid that can be made by the body or found in food. Pyruvate is intended to enhance exercise endurance and aid fat loss but more research is needed to clarify specific doses and conditions.1 Pyruvate can work very well when combined with other energy substrates like creatine and d-ribose.

Calcium Pyruvate Dosage

The recommended dose of calcium pyruvate varies from product to product, but is typically 5-6 grams.
