Essential Oils: Information
Essential oils are purified, aromatic oils prepared from specially-cultivated plants. All parts of a plant may be used to extract its essential oil; stem, leaves, fruit, blossoms, and roots. The aromatic quality of each oil is thought to impart a specific physical or psychological benefit to the user; lavender's scent is calming and relaxing, eucalyptus is clearing and invigorating. Other oils are used because of physical properties the oils possess and not because of scent; peppermint oil soothes the digestive tract, tea tree oil is able to combat a wide range of harmful microorganisms.
Using Essential Oils
Essential oils are not to be taken internally unless the product is intended for that purpose. Essential oils are usually used in diffuser devices that disperse the scent, and also occasionally used on the skin.
